Basketball Court Cement

Thank you so much to Jack Klunder and Kevin Boonstra for all their help in preping and pouring and especially finishing the cement on the elementary playground. These two guys are two of the busiest guys in McBain and they donated their time for the students of McBain.



It started as a great day but cool. the cement didn't dry that fast and then the storm came. Let's not forget the freezing nights and snow storm. A big thank you go out to LC Redimix and their drivers for doing a great job and loaning equipment.

Mr. Culp and I were honored by our local union

Mr. Culp was honored by our McBain Union as the Friend of Education for his countless hours of volunteering.  I was humbled and honored as the OPIE recipient.  (Outstanding Person in Education)  Brenda Benthem was honored as the OPIE for the support staff.  We went to a very nice dinner at Timber Wolf Lodge north of Lake City.

Mileage Club Starts Today

Mileage Club begins on Monday, the 22nd.  Parents are volunteering but we are short on volunteers so some 4th grades are going to help.  

Shirt order for Fun to Be Fit is do Monday, April 22.  The shirts are hot pink this year.

Reading Month

On Thursday we are have our Reading month celebration. The students are excited because it is pajama day. Please have them wear appropriate clothing for the weather and be aware that they still have outside recess, so dress them warm.

We have a short assembly after lunch to award some prizes for meeting some reading goals. We will then watch a movie. Students have had stuffed animals in all month. They can watch the movie with them. Then take them home (than I can get my room back) he he.

An idea for a snack during the movie is a "trail mix" If your child can bring in a sandwich baggie of some type of snack to be mixed together. ie cereal, raisins, marshmallows, cheeze its, etc. Try to avoid nuts because of food allergies.

Expect report cards to come home on Thursday.

On Wednesday we are having an 8th Grade Buddy good bye party. It is the last day with this group of 8th graders. After spring break will we have a new group to read with.

We are loving reading Month. Thank you Jodi Loeks for reading to the class.  You did a great job.   Don't forget dress up Fridays.  Bring in $0.25 if you want a bag of popcorn.
